Goat Island Bottle Shop opened as the first of its kind in Rocky Mount, NC 4 years ago. Named after the island that sits behind us in the Tar River, Goat Island has 11 rotating taps and strives to keep Rocky Mount taste buds up to date on what's happening in the Craft Beer Industry.
With multiple shelves of To-Go products and a selection of wine, there is always something new to try. Owner, Kristi Ellis, originally from Florida, moved to Rocky Mount with husband & beer lover, Travis Ellis to open what is now Goat Island Bottle Shop. With 3 kids, the Ellis family has sunk roots into Rocky Mount and have enjoyed becoming part of the small business community in Nash County.
In 2019 - Kristi Ellis, owner of Goat Island Bottle Shop was awarded Entrepreneur of the year by the Rocky Mount Chamber of Commerce. Goat Island is going on its 4th year of hosting Oktoberfest this year and is excited to add the Rocky Mount Beer Fest to the lineup of Annual Events.
Rocky Mount Mills, located along the Falls of the beautiful Tar River, is a development of historic proportions, bringing together residential, commercial, cultural and entertainment amenities in one unique destination. The 82-acre campus of this restored cotton mill showcases a bold approach to historic preservation. Rocky Mount Mills is home to vibrant community gathering areas, abundant restaurant options, craft breweries, River & Twine a "tiny house" hotel, indoor and outdoor venues, residences and workspaces. Rocky Mount Mills is also the home to the region's only beer incubator, boasting a broad collection of breweries on campus. In addition, visitors will find breakfast, lunch and dinner options on campus as well as a bottle shop. Live Music can often be heard throughout the campus as you grab a beer or glass of wine and come explore this unique destination in Rocky Mount, NC.
Jen Fritsch (pictured left) started out her love for craft beer in Tennessee where she has been working in the alcohol industry for 17 years and specifically the craft beer industry for the last 13 years.
Jen has been with Goat Island since the day we opened, in the spring of 2017. In 2018, she stepped into the role of Bar Manager. Since then, she does all of the beer ordering for Goat and oversees all day-to-day operations. Jen is the first contact with customers and they all love her!
People often mistake Jen & Goat Islands owner, Kristi Ellis. We can assure you, as much as they may look alike, they are not related!
